Born in Kanagawa prefecture, EXILE HIRO originally debuted as a member of ZOO in 1990 until the group split up in 2005. In 1999 HIRO formed the dance group J Soul Brothers, which changed its name to EXILE after singers Atsushi and Shun joined in 2001. Under HIRO's leadership, EXILE saw a rapid rise to stardom, and quickly became a national icon. Hiro eventually stepped down from performing in 2013 to focus on finding new talent and expanding the EXILE family.

In December 2015 HIRO was commended the "Bunkacho-Chokan Award" by the government's agency of cultural affairs, for outstanding contributions to the Japanese music industry and the promotion and development of Japanese art culture.

Starting 2017, under LDH's new business structure, HIRO was appointed Chief Creative Officer of LDH WORLD, where HIRO shepherds the creative process of LDH's global expansion, in cooperation with the world's top artists and corporations.
