PROFILE
He is from Nagaokakyo City of Kyoto Prefecture.
Before the debut, he served as a parade dancer for Universal Studios Japan, participated in EXILE's live tours and kept polishing his acting and performing skills through activities in GEKIDAN EXILE Kazegumi and many other events. Finally, in November 2010, he debuted as a performer of J SOUL BROTHERS III via "Best Friend's Girl".
Currently, he is appearing in 2 regular TV programs.
He has served as the Tuesday main MC of NTV Network's morning information program "ZIP!" for 8 years, making him the longest-serving MC in the program’s history.
He is also the MC for BS10 "B.LEAGUE Zenryoku Ouen! BASKET DAMASHII presented by Basket LIVE".
Apart from appearing on programs, he participated in the project performances of "B.LEAGUE ALL STAR GAME" and hosted the "B.LEAGUE AWARD SHOW", which was held to reward outstanding players and coaches of each season, for 2 consecutive years. Drawing on his experience from being in the basketball club during his schooldays, he is expanding his appearances on basketball-related programs.
As for radio, he is appearing in 2 regular programs.
From April 2015 to March 2019, he hosted Nippon Broadcasting System's "J SOUL BROTHERS III Yamashita Kenjiro no ALL NIGHT NIPPON". Later, he continued to host "J SOUL BROTHERS III KENJIRO YAMASHITA's ZERO BASE".
On this program, he planned events under the concepts of 【music】, 【comedy】 and 【culture】which were related to himself, and held "J SOUL BROTHERS III Yamashita Kenjiro no ALL NIGHT NIPPON presents Yama Fes. ~Yamashita Base in YOKOHAMA ARENA~" in Yokohama Arena in 2018 for the first time, which attracted 10,000 viewers. In 2025, he held the 6th "J SOUL BROTHERS III KENJIRO YAMASHITA's ZERO BASE PRESENTS YAMA-FES 2025 ~JUNGLE~".
He also serves as the MC on NHK Radio's "Yamashita Kenjiro no Talk Like Fishing".
As for other media activities, he started hosting the taxi travel time information program "HEADLIGHT" in April 2025.
This program is broadcast on about 11,500 taxis in Tokyo.
He is currently holding his 1st solo nationwide talk tour, "KENJIRO YAMASHITA TALK TOUR 2025 'TSUDOI'", from August 2025, with 12 shows in 8 cities across Japan.
Tickets to all the shows have been sold out.
He maximizes his talking experience that has been accumulated through media appearances over these years and keeps taking on new challenges beyond the common cognition for artists.
In the field of interests, he received many awards.
In 2019, he was given "Cool Anglers Award", which was to reward celebrities who made contributions to increasing the number of anglers and improving the image of fishing.
Later in 2020 and 2021, he continued to receive this award and was inducted into the 【Hall of Fame】.
Apart from regular fishing radio programs, he participated in a serialization project in the fishing magazine "Lure magazine".
In the same year, he was awarded "DIY AWARD", which was to select and reward people who made contributions to DIY developments by making DIY items and promoting DIY.
So far, his DIY project "KENJIRO'S DIY STATION" planned on NTV "ZIP!" has entered its 6th year.
In 2025, he released his DIY book "KENJIRO'S DIY STATION OFFICIAL BOOK".
In 2022, he received "SNEAKER BEST DRESSER AWARD", which appraised and selected winners from 3 points, "suitable for wearing sneakers", "wanting to wear sneakers in the future" and "making contributions to the sneaker consumption". In the next year, he gained the "Special Award" of this award and was inducted into the 【Hall of Fame】.
In the field of planning and directing, he established his self-produced apparel brand "HIGH FIVE FACTORY" in 2021.
This brand is mainly themed upon American culture but integrated with the vintage style and playfulness that he likes.
What's more, the brand has rolled out many items in collaboration with famous brands.
In 2025, he launched his handmade brand "DEXTROUS" where he managed all processes from material procurement to processing and production.
It is the achievement from his love for handmade items since childhood. To realize his dream of "handing handmade items over to other people one day", more items are scheduled to be rolled out in the future.
Apart from group activities, he carries out solo activities in a wide variety of fields mainly on radio and TV based on his interests.
